TORGAG Inducts New National Executives at Kumasi Congress
The Tour Guides Association of Ghana (TORGAG) has officially inducted a new leadership team to steer the Association for the next three years. The induction took place during the national congress held in Kumasi, under the theme “Re‑energize for Effective Professional Delivery.”
Outgoing President Mr. Awuku Yirenkyi highlighted the need for TORGAG to continuously refine its strategies to remain relevant in Ghana’s growing tourism sector. He noted that since the Association’s establishment in 1995, TORGAG has worked closely with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to ensure that tour guides across the country operate with proper licensing and professional standards.
He further emphasized the Association’s collaboration with the Forestry Commission, which grants licensed members access to selected forest reserves and tourism sites through an existing Memorandum of Understanding. Members who have not yet completed their licensing documentation were encouraged to do so to meet GTA requirements.
Tourism and heritage educator Mr. Tata Nkunu Akyea advised the incoming executives to demonstrate strong leadership and prioritize the interests of members.
Newly elected President Mr. Ashford Samuel Banibensu pledged to unite the Association and strengthen its contribution to national tourism development. He called on members to work collectively to make TORGAG more vibrant and impactful.
